After-School Reading
The after school reading program is a community ministry for students from nearby Taylor Elementary who benefit from special help with reading. Students are selected by their teachers and usually are second graders. The program meets Monday through Thursday from 3:15-4:30. Each student has a 30-minute individual reading lesson on his own level and spends 30 minutes being read to in a small group, which helps with vocabulary development and comprehension.
The program meets Monday-Thursday afternoons:
3:15-3:30 p.m. Snack and juice drink
3:30-4:00 p.m. Individual reading lesson (Half the students)
4:00-4:30 p.m. Being read to (Half the students)
At 4 p.m. the groups flip
Volunteers to read or to provide or serve snacks are always welcome. For more information contact C. G. and Barbara Gray (325) 673-5816.
