The Military

Helping Our Heroes is a ministry of the University Church of Christ that provides care packages to our deployed troops. We send 40-45 large APO-FPO boxes every four to six weeks to individuals whose names have been given to us by UCC members and also from other sources. Our goal is to reach people who might not otherwise receive mail. Many are in isolated places where these items are not readily available.

Helping Our Heroes sends needed hygiene items, nutritional snacks, reading material, puzzles and a spiritual packet with a Daily Devotional Booklet and a New Testament.

How you can help:

Each box costs around $25 including the $11.98 postage. We ask people to Adopt-A-Box for $25, or help with the postage, or help in any other way.

We also need help providing items to be included. Occasionally we list needed items in the bulletin, such as books or magazines. Other times we need shoppers; we will tell you what to buy and where.

Volunteers are needed to pack and organize boxes, to maintain the list of who has received boxes and to keep up with emails we received from heroes on our list.
