Young Adults

At UCC, the Young Adult ministry focuses not on the church as a building, a location, or an event, but on the church un-plugged. After all, the church is a really just group of people in whom and with whom God dwells for the sake of transforming the world.

As his catalyst for redemption on earth, God could have sent a governing body or a military or an educational system. But he didn’t. He sent (and sends) the church.

As his people, we seek to focus our efforts on Christian service free from pretense, simple ministry where kind people slip into the spots in town where folks are hurting and life is messy. We have no clever strategies or campaigns. We just go where we can, offering a hug of friendship, a word of hope, a piece of bread.

That is after all, what Jesus did. Instead of the pretense of the Pharisees, the kingdom of God stole into the world through the service of a carpenter, some fishermen, redeemed crooks and revolutionaries, and a handful of nearly anonymous women.

We think it can still happen today and we invite you to join us. As young adults together, we want to empower each other to live God’s reign every day of the week and everywhere we go. So if you are in your twenties, give or take a few years, whether married, single, working, studying or otherwise, let us help you serve in a God-eyed, world-focused way.
