For more than 50 years, University Church has been committed to this ministry to the needy in our community. Founded in 1968 under the oversight of the UCC elders, the Center was incorporated in January 2005 as a 501C(3) non-profit as the Christian Service Center of Abilene, directed by Jim Clark and overseen by a board of directors.
We are always looking for those interested in serving the needy by volunteering at the CSC. We need volunteers to interview neighbors, help neighbors select clothing and other items, or to distribute food packages. Typical volunteer shirts are from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. and can be adjusted to fit your needs.
